Local Attractions

Centre County has earned its name Happy Valley as the area is filled with activties for everyone.  Penn State University, the local school districts, the Bryce Jordan Center and downtown State College are a few of the locals that provide arts and performances, athletics and recreation, shopping and restaurants.  Let Happy Valley and Centre County Visitor's Bureau help guide you to an evening, weekend or weekday vacation of fun.

Lemont and Historic Boalsburg

Our Bed and Breakfast is located in Oak Hall, which sits at the base of Mt. Nittany and is midway between the villages of Boalsburg and Lemont.  Reservations/ Availability

Historic Boalsburg, birthplace of Memorial Day, is only two miles from us.  Enjoy strolling Main Street and visiting the quaint shops on the Diamond.  Dine at Duffy's Tavern, a popular Boalsburg eating establishment, or enjoy Kelly's Steak and Seafood. Visit the Boal Mansion Museum and Columbus Chapel, the Boalsburg Heritage Museum, or spend some time at the Pennsylvania Military Museum 28th Division Shrine.

Alto Italian Restaurant and Bar is in nearby Lemont.  We highly recommend it.  It was recently opened by Fonash and Kendeffy, the proprietors of Zola New World Bistro located in downtown State College.  Meanwhile, one can peruse the artwork of local artists at The Gallery Shop or an exhibit at The Art Alliance while in Lemont. 

If a workout is more to your liking, drive to the Mt. Nittany Trailhead at the top of Mt. Nittany Road in Lemont and hike the Mt. Nittany trails.  Its just three quarters of a mile for a view of Penn State or hike the Blue or White Trails for four to five miles and really work up an appetite.

Less than five minutes drive from Bed and Breakfast at The Rock Garden along Brush Valley Road is the Mt. Nittany Winery.  Visit them and enjoy a taste of their award-winning wines.

Other Activities and Places of Interest

For the more adventurous, The Sky is The Limit Ballooning offers spectacular views of Happy Valley.  An incredible experience for the passengers, and a bit of magic for those on the ground, as the balloon drifts over our B&B.

Speaking of adventure, there are several caves and caverns in this part of Pennsylvania.  Penns Cave is toured by boat!  Other caverns are Lincoln Caverns, Woodward Cave and Indian Caverns.

Natural attractions abound.  There are many hiking trails in the general vicinity, including trails up and around Mt. Nittany.  Let us direct you to the Mt. Nittany trail head.  Another great way to spend an afternoon is hiking or walking the nature trails at Shaver's Creek Environmental Center, and visiting their Raptor Center.
